Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
Doctors of Chiropractic often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises, as well as to provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counseling.
The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as “chiropractic adjustment.” The purpose of adjustment is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile in their movement as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.
The human body is designed to be self-regulating and self-healing. The part of the body which is responsible for the self-regulating and self-healing properties of the body is the nervous system. The spinal column is designed to protect the vital connection between the nervous system and the body. Therefore, an optimal functioning spine and nervous system equals optimal health.
While attending Life University, Dr. Victoria learned how chiropractic adjustment can help you with other conditions such as asthma, high blood pressure, allergy, earache, and more. By removing the interference our nervous system would work at its optimum level; therefore, the body can heal and function better. Her son had asthma since he was 3, Dr. Victoria started adjusting her family since she started doing her internship at one of the clinics at Life university. After some time, she noticed that her son does not have asthma attack as often as he used to. He improved after a couple years and now he almost never uses his medication. He’s healthy and has not missed any school days. Dr. Victoria, is excited to serve her community and make it one of the healthiest community by removing the interference by gentle specific scientific chiropractic care.
